Legislative Update: Climate Change Policy for Massachusetts

Sen. Michael J. Barrett presented an update on the State’s climate policy.

Mike Barrett is State Senator for the Third Middlesex District which includes eight Massachusetts communities — Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lincoln, Waltham, Weston, and large parts of Lexington.  Mike serves as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy. The committee’s jurisdiction covers everything from cell phones to alternative energy, public utility reform, and carbon pricing.

In addition to his role as Senate Chair of TUE, Sen. Barrett is Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change. Upon entering the Legislature several years ago, Mike was appointed Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities.

Earlier in his career, Sen. Barrett worked in health care and information technology, first as CEO and General Counsel of the Visiting Nurse Associations of New England and then as a health care IT analyst for Forrester Research and Critical Mass Consulting.  Prior to working in the private sector, Mike served in both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the State Senate.
